Östlands-Posten
It has been reported that the minister who spoke against Christian Science found that nearly everybody had left the church when he had finished. This is surely a proof that this minister, in reviling people of a different faith, was not preaching Christ, which he should have been doing. Also, another clergyman, having delivered a series of lectures in opposition to Christian Science, found, when he had finished, that nearly all the members of his congregation had become Scientists. This proves that, in the words of the psalmist, "the wrath of man shall praise thee."
The great adherence to Christian Science, which the correspondent in your paper finds to be so perilous, shows that when this teaching is able to make men love Christ more than all else, and show their obedience to God's law, then the longing and seeking souls are satisfied; and they will share in the blessings which Christ Jesus promised those who believe in him. The Church of Christ, Scientists, is no respecter of persons. Christian Science appeals to high and low, rich and poor. There is but one faith, and this faith builds upon Spirit, not the flesh: and we know that "the Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God."
