My first healing in Christian Science was instantaneous, and was brought about by reading the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I had suffered from bowel trouble for years; and ten years before coming into Christian Science I consulted many physicians about it. I had read the textbook for only two weeks, and had not finished more than one fourth of it when I realized that I had not thought of medicine (which I had previously taken regularly every other night); and the trouble had completely disappeared. I have always felt very grateful for this healing, because it proved to me that Christian Science is the truth. Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." My ignorance of Truth, or God, had caused this obstruction; and gaining a little knowledge of what God is had removed the obstruction. I was free from a trouble that had caused another physical disease, which disappeared at the same time. This double healing made me confident that all in the textbook is true, whether I understood it all at once or not. I have been proving this truth for the past six years in every problem that has come to me, and I have had many healings.

I am most grateful that I am learning to think correctly. God's thoughts are those of love, peace, humility, truth, health; and as I try to think these thoughts and cast out thoughts of fear, hatred, anger, sickness, I am being really healed, and getting that "peace of God, which passeth all understanding."
