The Lectures

London, England (Eleventh Church).—A. Hervey-Bathurst gave the following remarks when introducing George Shaw Cook, a Christian Science lecturer:—

As we look out over the world, we cannot fail to see that, although it is nineteen hundred years since Christ Jesus preached the gospel of good-will and peace, declaring, "The kingdom of God is at hand," there is still disagreement, friction, and fear expressed by individuals, in communities, and among nations professing Christianity, each striving after what seems difficult, if not impossible, of attainment. Yet the Founder of Christianity said in unmistakably clear language, referring to the working out of the problems of everyday life, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Now Christian Science shows us how we can recognize the kingdom of God, or the power, presence, guidance, and love of God in all our affairs, not only where health is concerned, but also with regard to all the problems—financial, social, labor, political, national, or international—with which mankind is faced.

Christian Science is, therefore, primitive Christianity rediscovered and given back to mankind in all its purity and simplicity, and proved to be as practical or demonstrable to-day as it was when taught and practiced by Christ Jesus and his disciples.
