Christian Science first attracted me as a means of physical healing. After submitting to two surgical operations for a misplaced organ and finding only temporary relief, my attention was called to Christian Science by a friend who had been healed in Science. She stated that I could be healed, and as I was suffering excruciating pain, for which hypodermics of morphine had to be administered in increasing doses, I gladly sought the aid of a practitioner. My healing was not instantaneous. I had much to overcome. I had been a trained nurse and my father a physician and surgeon, so my thought was filled with materia medica ideas; but through the loving help of the practitioner these thoughts were put out and in their place the thought of the perfect man of God's creating was installed.

Words are inadequate to express my gratitude to God for this healing and many others that I have had since taking up the study of Christian Science. All that I am, or have, I owe to Science, as the doctor stated I could not survive many more of the attacks I was subject to. I am proving daily that no matter what erroneous condition may arise, if we turn to God understandingly for His help, he never fails. The spiritual uplift I have received is even greater cause for gratitude than my physical healing, for the Bible was a closed book to me, until. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy unlocked its spiritual meaning. I am truly grateful to God, to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and to all who have been the means through which good has come to me.
