While eating breakfast one morning my jaw became dislocated and I was unable to close my mouth. This had occurred a number of times previous to my coming into Christian Science and I had always been immediately relieved by a physician. As it was purely a mechanical operation, I made no objection when it was suggested that I go to an osteopath in the neighborhood. A friend accompanied me, and the doctor worked over me for about half an hour withou any result. Then he called a brother osteopath and they worked together for another half hour. Finally they said they could do nothing for me, that the muscles had contracted too much, and that the longer the jaw was dislocated the more difficult it would be to reset it. They said it would be necessary for me to take an anesthetic in order to have the jaw reset.

My friend went with me to my place of business and explained matters to my superior, who is a Christian Scientist, and I intimated to him that I should like Science help while the operation was being performed. He therefore called a practitioner, who said that it was not necessary to have any operation; that I should read Science and Health and he would treat me. Many times fear, which the doctors had implanted, seemed to take hold of me, but it was always relieved by the work of the practitioner. About two o'clock in the afternoon I started to think of the many demonstrations I had had in Science and a feeling of great gratitude came over me. When I next thought of my jaw it was in place and I was able to talk. I had never realized the omnipresence of God so clearly as I did at that moment.

I have also been healed of the tobacco habit and of severe colds. Glasses have been laid aside, and an ulcerated tooth which the dentist had said must be removed has been saved. I am very grateful for all these demonstrations but much more so for the knowledge of God which Christian Science has given me. I am also grateful for the privilege of church membership and church work.
