About five years ago while visiting a relative who is a Christian Scientist, I was lovingly asked if I would have treatment for my eyes, which were causing me trouble. After thinking it over I decided that although I felt sure it could not help me, it would at least not harm, so I consented to remove my glasses, which had been worn constantly for fourteen years. I had been assured by doctors that I would have to wear them all my life, but have never had to use them again. My eyes gradually became stronger until they were normal and I have never had a return of the severe headaches from which I formerly suffered. Since then I have had many physical healings. Rose fever, from which I had suffered each spring for a number of years, disappeared the first summer I was in Science, and severe burns and bad colds have been overcome. I have experienced the protecting care of God during a fire, and when struck by an automobile with such force that I slid on my face six or eight yards, I had such a sense of God's presence that no pain was experienced and there was only a slight stiffness for a couple of hours.

Two years ago, on a return trip from a tropical country, I was waked up in the night with great pain in my foot and leg. After declaring the truth for some time the pain ceased, and I did not think of it again until two days later when it returned, and I was not able to get rid of it, except at intervals, for the next few weeks. Upon examining my foot I found a small black spot and immediately realized that an insect of which I had heard while in the tropics had got into the foot; also that I had been filled with fear of this during my whole visit. One evening, after experiencing much pain I asked for help from a practitioner and the next day a round, hard substance the size of a pea, with the black spot embedded in it, dropped out of my foot. I told one who had lived in this place about my experience and was informed that usually the insect had to be cut out.

While very grateful for these physical healings, I cannot find words with which to express my thankfulness to God, and my gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the spiritual uplift which has come to me through this study.
