Among the Churches

Current Notes

Dayton, Ohio .—For the purpose of erecting a new house of worship to meet the demands of the growing congregation, Second Church of Christ, Scientist, has purchased property at Grand and Belmont Avenues, Dayton View, and will soon have plans for a new building. The consideration for the entire strip of ground was about fourteen thousand dollars, and the plot has 142 feet on Grand Avenue and 147 feet on Belmont Avenue, while more is contained in a strip now occupied by the old Ritter greenhouse on Grand Avenue. This latter ground runs back about 270 feet. The congregation has experienced a rapid growth in recent years and the Sunday school roll, in the past few months, has grown to such proportions that it is said the capacity of the building on East First Street, near Memorial Hall, has been taxed by this department as well as by the church proper.
