For the spiritual interpretation of the Bible, as revealed through the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I am profoundly grateful. Brought up in a religious atmosphere, I was early taught to reverence the Bible and to study it systematically. To-day I honor my parents for requiring this of me,—it served a useful purpose; but as I came into manhood I could not reconcile reason with much that I had learned from the Bible, because I had been taught that it must be accepted literally. Christian Science brought in the light of spiritual understanding, which not only healed me of serious stomach and bowel trouble, typhoid fever, and erysipelas, but illumined the Scriptures, opening up that great storehouse of spiritual truths which, as Paul says, are "spiritually discerned." Out of a full heart I thank God for His faithful servant, Mrs. Eddy, who had the vision, the love, and the courage to give to the world the "Key to the Scriptures" so that all who will may learn something of "the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God."
