About seven years ago, when tired of what life seemed to me to be, I met a Christian Science practitioner and asked her to tell me something about Christian Science, as I knew nothing about it but was desirous of beginning the study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. She lovingly told me many of the fundamental teachings, but the one which appealed to me at that time and is still uppermost in my thought, was her statement that God is Life. For many months I had been quite ill, suffering from a complication of diseases. With days of discouragement and hopelessness had come the thought of self-destruction, for I had no hope of materia medica meeting my need and death seemed my only means of relief.

It seemed too good to be true that God could heal me, and not until almost a year later did I commence reading Science and Health. Then I earnestly and prayerfully read many hours daily and far into the night, being hungry for the truth. I knew that the "pearl of great price" was being revealed to me, and in less than two weeks I was healed. Instead of being in bed about three weeks out of every five, I was able to be up all day and every day and do the work for my family, standing for hours, whenever it was necessary for me to do so, without the least discomfort. While reading at that time I was also healed of partial paralysis which was affecting a part of the body. There has been no return of the ills, and many healings have since been accomplished as a result of the faithful work of practitioners. A distressing cough with loss of voice, unpleasant eruptions, headaches, and many diseased conditions have yielded to the power of Truth. I am learning that an earnest study of the Bible and of our textbook does keep us day by day, for we are thus enabled to rise above physical sense testimony.
