Christian Science has a purely spiritual foundation in demonstrable Principle, and its wonderful success arises solely from the good work it accomplishes for humanity in destroying sin and healing disease and discords. It does present "laws of spiritual progression," but these laws are not the assumed laws which are said to attend occult and mystical systems of the human mind. Christian Science is simple, and children readily learn to understand and demonstrate it. It states the nature of God, man, and law as no other teaching does.

In "Rudimental Divine Science," on page 1, Mrs. Eddy answers the question, "How would you define Christian Science?" with these simple words: "As the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony."
