When I took up the study of Christian Science I was in...
When I took up the study of Christian Science I was in a hopeless condition and could see no help at hand. For several years I had spent most of my time in hospitals in this city, and all the specialists said there was no permanent cure for me; but with the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner I was healed instantaneously of two very severe attacks of intestinal obstruction. I used to suffer a great deal from chronic bowel and stomach trouble, and retained very little food. I also had a carious bone of the nose for years, and a surgeon said a portion of the bone would have to be removed. The practitioner did not treat me for this trouble, but the soreness disappeared and has never returned. In the year 1916 I awoke one morning with a rash which seemed to spread over arms, neck, and face. I asked for Christian Science treatment, but the itching was almost unbearable, and the eighth day it seemed as if I could not endure it any longer. I just did nothing but cry and walk the floor. At three o'clock in the afternoon I called up the practitioner, and while talking to her I was healed. Christian Science has also helped me much in a business way, and has shown me my true place.
We owe our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, a gratitude we can only express by earnestly trying to reflect the nature of our Father-Mother God, and by faithful study of the Bible and the Christian Science literature. I pray each day that I may live closer to God and have that Mind in me "which was also in Christ Jesus." Mrs. Eddy says on page 254 of Science and Health, "When we wait patiently on God and seek Truth righteously, He directs our path." This statement has been proved true in my experience.
