Among the Churches

Current Notes

Toledo, Ohio. —About nine thousand pieces of literature are distributed monthly in Toledo by the two Christian Science churches. The work is done from distributing centers maintained by each church.

The purpose of disseminating Christian Science literature, members say, is threefold. It is not done to proselyte; in fact, no Christian Science propaganda is ever thrust upon anybody, and is never done in an aggressive or annoying manner. The literature is simply placed where those who care to may avail themselves of it. Its threefold purpose is explained to be that of breaking down the prejudice against Christian Science by giving the public a clear idea of what Christian Science really stands for, and lastly, as a healing and enlightening force.

The two Toledo churches jointly maintain over one hundred distributing points, including all of the public charitable and corrective institutions of the city, the county infirmary, the free employment bureaus, rest rooms in hotels and railway stations and many of the large factories and industrial plants of the city.—Toledo Blade.
