I have been helped so many times by the testimones...
I have been helped so many times by the testimones given in our periodicals and at our Wednesday evening meetings, that I should like to give my testimony with the hope that it too may help some one. I have been healed of influenza, catarrh, severe stomach disorder, and a trouble with my eyes from which I had suffered for many years. After a few treatments in Christian Science I was able to lay aside my glasses and have not needed them since.
While deeply grateful for these physical healings, I am much more grateful that Christian Science heals sorrow. About seven years ago my father passed away; immediately after that I took up the study of Christian Science, and every trace of grief and the feeling of separation was instantly lifted from me. My mother had passed away when I was a little girl, and having never known a mother's love, my father was very near and dear to me; but Christian Science taught me that the Father-Mother God is ever present to guard and guide His children. Three years ago an only brother passed out, and again Christian Science brought peace and comfort. On page 66 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy says: "Sorrow has its reward. It never leaves us where it found us." So it was with the passing of my brother—it did leave did not leave me where it found me, but instead lifted me to discern "the Life which mortal sense cannot impair nor mortal belief destroy" (Science and Health, p. 428). If Christian Science did nothing but dispel sorrow for suffering humanity, the world would owe Mrs. Eddy a deep debt of gratitude.
I am most grateful for our literature and for our reading rooms, which are certainly a haven of rest for all who come within their shelter. I am grateful for all the blessings that have come into my life through Christian Science, grateful that one was found pure enough to receive this truth and with sufficient courage to give it to the world. Christian Scientists certainly owe our beloved Leader an ever increasing debt of gratitude for unlocking the spiritual treasures of the Bible.—(Mrs.) Luna W. Butler, San Diego, Cal.
