The Lectures

Portland, Ore. (Third Church).—Paul Stark Seeley, lecturer; introduced by Ernest Percy Morgan, who said in part:—

In John's gospel we read that one of Jesus' disciples made the following request of the Master: "Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us." This heart yearning of Philip for a knowledge of God has been the cry of humanity all through the ages, all of whom have been echoing Job's plaint, "Oh that I knew where I might find him!"

In harmony with this, one of the great American newspapers in commenting on the life work of our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, made the following statement: "She made God easy of approach to hosts of men and women, who losing faith, else had not known Him." An innumerable multitude of people all over the world bear grateful testimony to the truth of this statement; for from the study of Christian Science we have found God, and are, in a measure, able to say with Job, "I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee."
