Coalinga Record
Coalinga, Cal. (Society).—Prof. Hermann S. Hering, lecturer; introduced by Mrs. O. H. Knox, who said in part:—
It is recorded in the Bible that Jesus of Nazareth said, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." He proved that this truth, when applied as he taught, would free mankind from sin, sickness, and even death. His followers also proved this for themselves and others for almost three centuries after the crucifixion. After that time the healing influence was lost, until about fifty years ago a woman, Mary Baker Eddy, rediscovered this truth which Jesus taught, and named her discovery Christian Science. She proved through her own healing and by healing others that this truth will heal the sick now and in every age, just as it did nineteen hundred years ago. She also learned, through demonstrating this truth, to know that, as David tells us, God is "a very present help in trouble," a God close at hand and not far off.—Coalinga Record.
