The desire to acknowledge some of the benefits received...

The desire to acknowledge some of the benefits received through Christian Science and to do all in my power to show my gratitude is the reason for this testimony. Prior to my mother's healing through the power of Truth, which took place when I was fourteen years old, I was subject to frequent sick spells, and was often out of school for weeks at a time. After we began the study of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and attended the Christian Science church, my general health became normal, and whenever any phase of disease presented itself it was promptly banished by Christian Science treatment. A seemingly severe attack of quinsy was overcome in three days. At various times burns and bruises have been entirely relieved by the instant denial that matter can have sensation. On one occasion I was wonderfully protected from acid burns. Though the fluid passed over the greater part of both hands, the only result was a very slight dryness of the skin which lasted but a few minutes.

At the time of my marriage my husband was not interested in Christian Science, though not prejudiced in any way. He has since become interested, and has received help both through the work of practitioners and through his own study and application of the truth. All the problems of daily living have been harmoniously solved when we have been willing to be guided by Truth. Previous to the birth of our little boy I suffered no inconvenience or pain, and very little severe pain was experienced when he was born. The child was fifteen months old before he had a sick day and then came a seemingly severe trial; but through the faithful, loving work of a practitioner he was brought out and is now his active, happy self again. Our gratitude for this healing is profound.

Great as is our indebtedness to Christian Science for the physical benefits we have received, it is the fact that Christian Science is a spiritual guide by which we can work out our salvation for which we are most grateful. It is daily teaching us to overcome temper, self-pity, self-righteousness, and a sense of lack, and to be honest and loving with our fellow man. We are grateful for our publications and to Mrs. Eddy for the consecration and purity that enabled her to bring the truth to light again.
