Nearly twelve years ago I became interested in Christian Science...
Nearly twelve years ago I became interested in Christian Science through one of my teachers in school. At the age of sixteen I had decided that there was no God, and for several years lived in a state of doubt and unhappiness. When told that God is infinite intelligence I was interested and began to attend the Christian Science church. In the years that have followed I have had many healings. Colds which had become chronic and continued all summer as well as all winter have now entirely disappeared. From babyhood I suffered severely off and on with stomach disorder, and after I had been interested in Christian Science about five years this trouble returned in a very acute form. The healing was slow, but the acute attacks have been overcome, and while formerly I suffered constant discomfort, now even a slight attack is a rare occurrence and yields quickly to the truth. I was healed of a severe attack of influenza in one day, and two weeks later erysipelas was overcome in four days' treatment. The tendency to take cold was destroyed through my own understanding of the truth, but in the other cases I had help from practitioners.
I never knew the meaning of the word gratitude before becoming interested in Christian Science, and I was forced to learn how to be grateful. I have also had wonderful help along financial lines. Above all else I have learned to know and to trust God, and I am certainly thankful to our heavenly Father for the love and harmony that have come into my life through Christian Science. It has taught me the meaning of that wonderful verse from the forty-first chapter of Isaiah: "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
Mrs. Marguerite Hillery Williamson, Watsonville, Cal.
