The War Relief Fund

"At this opportunity I would like to express my gratitude to the Christian Scientists in America for all the love and kindness shown to their European brother in this time by helping them financially. I am one of those who have been helped twice by the local committee [Zürich, Switzerland], having received fifty francs each time. Especially I have been touched by the tactful way in which the ladies of the committee presented the money to me. In the mean time divine Love has provided for me, so that for the present I need no help. I am very grateful to have been led to Christian Science, and it is my sincere desire to express in my daily life the teachings of Christian Science."

"Enclosed you will find a New York draft for the sum of one thousand dollars. Please divide this equally between our three funds, namely, War Relief, Benevolent Association, and the Real Estate. May this do its part in operating as the widow's mite to multiply the loaves and fishes on foreign shores, unfold and strengthen the wings of the Benevolent Association, and thus establish our real estate, here and now."

"I enclose a check for five hundred dollars, one hundred of which is to go to the Benevolent Association fund, and one hundred to the Real Estate fund. The balance of three hundred dollars please apply to the War Relief fund, or, if the Directors deem it best, the whole amount may be applied to the War Relief fund. This check is part of a fund which we had been saving for an automobile, an equal amount having been sent to the Red Cross fund last week. The children, who have been raised in a Christian Science Sunday school, know only joy in giving up their anticipated outings."
