Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall...
Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." It was God, who is omnipotent, that saved me from an early grave. I never had known good health, and when about the age of twenty had to be fitted with glasses. At first they were used only for reading, but a few years later they had to be worn constantly. About twenty years after I first began to wear them my eyes failed so fast that it became necessary to have the lenses changed two or three times a year, and although I had always had the best specialists obtainable, the point was reached where they could not help me. At the same time my general health failed so rapidly that I thought I would lose my sight and reason too.
I lost all faith in doctors and medicine and resolved not to take any more drugs. A short time before this I had heard of Christian Science. Though I knew nothing of what it really was, I wrote to a friend who was a Christian Scientist and asked her if she thought Science could heal my eyes. She replied that she knew it could, and that seemed to me the best news I had ever heard,—indeed it seemed too to be true. The aid of a Christian Science practitioner was soon sought and treatments were begun. Three days later the thought suddenly came to me that if my eyes were healed I did not need glasses; so they were immediately taken off, and to my joy I could read as well as if I had never worn them. I have not used them since, and my sight is perfect.
For years I had rheumatism, and before coming into Science could not walk very far without suffering; besides I was always so tired that I could hardly drag myself around. After my eyes were healed I again sough the help of a practitioner, and in one week was healed. The Bible promise that they that wait on the Lord "shall run, and not be weary," has been literally fulfilled in me. Since beginning the study of Christian Science many lesser ailments and discords have been overcome. The greatest progress is made when I study the Lesson-Sermons faithfully.
