Sapulpa (Okla.) Herald
In the Herald of recent date an evangelist in his mistaken zeal went out of his way to attack a religion that is based on all the commands and teachings of the master Christian, Christ Jesus, and of the prophets and apostles, as recorded throughout the Scriptures. The statement that he is not attacking a Christian religion when attacking Christian Science is without proof or reason. In classing Christian Science with Spiritualism, Mormonism, Dowieism, and other isms, he shows that he is not awake to the truth of the matter.
The truth is that Christian Science is doing the works that the Master said should be the badge of the true Christian, that is, healing the sick, reforming the sinner, lifting up the fallen, and freeing mankind from the burdens imposed by a false sense of life and God. It is scientific because it is exact, and is based on absolute law, the law that was voiced in the Sermon on the Mount by the greatest and most successful preacher and physician the world has ever known.
Instead of Christian Science denying the fundamental teachings of the gospel of Christ Jesus, as the preacher asserted, it is elucidating and explaining them in the most practical manner. It is awakening the world to the beauty and utility of the Scriptures by explaining them so as to make available the treasures of Truth and Love that have been hidden from the world by material thinking and living. Christian Science is awakening the world to the beauty and practicability of the spiritual concept, and to the great good that is in store for every earnest seeker after Truth.
