The Lectures
Sewickley, Pa. (Society).—George Shaw Cook, lecturer; introduced by Roy A. Mather, who said in part:—
At times the true light has appeared in human consciousness with great effulgence. It was in the consciousness of Enoch when "he pleased God" and was translated; was discerned by Moses, figuratively set forth in the burning bush; was seen by Elijah when he transcended the limitations of mortal existence. It was manifested throughout the whole career of Jesus of Nazareth. The star of Bethlehem symbolized its coming, and it was seen in the wonderful illumination of the child at twelve when he was found sitting among the doctors; it protected Jesus from temptation in the wilderness and was seen in the transfiguration. It was that light through which Jesus taught the necessity of the brotherhood of man, through which he healed the sins of the world and its consequent sickness. That light was also manifested in the resurrection. Christian Science has come to this age again greatly manifesting that light which essays to teach men to have in them the Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus;" the Mind which again teaches the necessity of the brotherly love of all mankind, which again heals the sick and the sinning through prayerful metaphysics.
Oneonta, N. Y. (First Church).—Prof. Hermann S. Hering, lecturer; introduced by Elmer Clute, who said in part:—
