Over eighteen years ago I first heard of Christian Science
Over eighteen years ago I first heard of Christian Science. I had come to Detroit with the determination to lead a better life and get away from old comrades. At that time I was a wreck, physically and financially. For years I had suffered from stomach trouble, for which almost everything had been tried, but I was no better, on the contrary was worse.
I was then led to go where I heard of this Christ-teaching. It is needless to say I was hungry and that I was fed. I went to work for a Christian Scientist, and he told me of his healing in Christian Science, and said I could be cured also. I was given Science and Health to read, and in three months had gained considerably in weight and was much better physically. I had not taken treatment from a practitioner, but all my spare time in working hours and evenings was devoted to the reading of Science and Health.
Last year I had great reason for gratitude when I paid a visit to the city I left so many years ago in such a miserable condition. As I went around calling on different people I had known, it was difficult for them to believe their eyes when they saw me looking so well. I also had the pleasure of visiting The Mother Church, as well as the Publishing House, and it has been an inspiration to me to work harder to overcome all discord and to live more of this truth.
