I have long wished to express my heartfelt gratitude for the loving protection, peace, and joy that Christian Science has given me and is affording me here in France. It has proved in many practical ways that God is our guide and protector, and has enabled me to enjoy a sense of that "peace of God, which passeth all understanding." The understanding of Christian Science makes the ninety-first psalm a real protective power, and I feel the true meaning of those beautiful words: "A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee," and their correlative interpretation in Science and Health (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." This consciousness of the divine presence has proved a very practical help to me while under heavy shell fire, and although many fragments have fallen all around me, I have never been touched.

My thankfulness to God, also my gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for giving us this glorious truth, is unspeakable, because I realize quite well I could never have gone through the strain of these last twelve months without its help. I am earnestly looking forward to the day when I shall be able to give my verbal testimony concerning the above glorious experience.
