The gentleman who presented a paper on Christian Science...
The Chatham (Ontario) News
The gentleman who presented a paper on Christian Science before the Chatham Ministerial Association recently, reckoned without his host. Christian Science is based on the fact that there is a demonstrable Principle of healing, as manifested by the words of Christ Jesus, who said: "The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise."
Christian Science recognizes God as the Father, whose personality is infinite, and there is none besides Him. Man is the spiritual likeness of this infinite Mind, therefore man's individuality is spiritual. St. Paul wrote, "Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God." Righteousness being real, its opposite must be unreal, though seeming to be real to the mistaken human sense which indulges it. Sin, sickness, and death are not creations of God, who pronounced good all that He made. They are not in divine Mind, and we are enjoined to have the Mind of Christ. In the measure in which we accept the divine Mind as the only Mind, we put off the carnal mind with its sickness and sin.
