About the year 1901 I inquired of a druggist if he knew of anything that would help me overcome nervousness, and he prescribed a drug that he and his wife had used for years. I did not know the nature of the medicine until several years had passed, when I found I had become addicted to the morphine habit. The dose was gradually increased, until I was taking twenty-five times as much a day as when I first began. Many times I tried to give up using it, but grew worse instead of better, and a physician said there was no cure for me. I heard of Christian Science through friends, and felt it was the only way out of my bondage. Through the help of a practitioner I have been perfectly healed, and words cannot express my thankfulness to God and my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for this deliverance. Only those who have been under such bondage can appreciate my present joy. I am deriving great benefit from the Christian Science literature and from the church services, and am gradually gaining a clearer sense of God's allness and power.
