"Seek ye first the kingdom"

Bible students through the ages have found comfort in the statements made by Jesus regarding God's protecting care; but not until Mrs. Eddy gave to the world that wonderful commentary on the Bible, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," has it been generally recognized that those statements or promises are applicable to the daily needs of mankind in this age. To students of Christian Science, however, the light has broken through the clouds of sense by the illumination given in this wonderful book, and physical healing has generally followed this spiritual light.

Much gratitude is felt for a healing that demonstrated the truth of Jesus' statement, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Some years ago and accident caused injuries which at times brought on intense suffering, and the medical opinion was that the difficulty could be corrected only through surgery. At that time the writer had been studying Christian Science only three years, yet she had perfect faith that "with God all things are possible;" but while she expected her healing to come through Christian Science, she had in some way conceived the opinion that it would require time. Accordingly, a number of years passed and the healing was not manifested.

Then there came into the writer's experience what seemed a great sorrow, with very disturbing conditions, and for a time she felt overwhelmed. A desire to be alone with God until she could find the light and face the problem in the right way, prompted her to go away for a while. Taking her books, she sought a quiet place at the seashore, and there turned earnestly to God, praying constantly for spiritual grace and a clearer understanding of Truth. One day after going over the Lesson-Sermon, she sat looking out over the great ocean, thinking of its grandeur and immensity. She thought of the infinitude of Mind that "stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth," and there came to her such a clear realization of God's everpresence that she repeated aloud this stanza written by Mrs. Eddy (Poems, p. 12):—
