One marvels at the strange perversity of the human mind in seeking information relative to the spiritual healing of Christian Science from a follower of material medicine. Take the same class of cultured gentlemen,—would they call in a sign painter to pass upon the genuineness of a Corot, or a ragtime composer to pass upon the merits of a classical composition, or a disciple of Buddha to analyze the New Testament? The doctors of divinity and medicine seem to overlook the fact that the followers of Christian Science are largely made up of those who have received through its teachings surcease from pain after material remedies have failed, and a spiritual illumination of the Scriptures which their former religious beliefs failed to give.

One needs a broad and compassionate vision to judge sanely the rapid changes and upheavals in the world today. As the individual demand for human betterment is overthrowing monarchies and revolutionizing nations, so Christian Science, revolutionary in its very name and nature, is causing no small stir in the realm of religion and medicine.
