A few years ago I became interested in Christian Science and since then have had many demonstrations. One of the most beautiful proofs of the protecting power of divine Love was experienced by me in the fall of 1915. In hunting for a golf ball I missed my footing and fell, striking on my wrist. The pain was intense, but I repeated the "scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468), and declared the allness of God and His perfect creation. I played a while longer but could not control my club, so returned home and called a practitioner by telephone. Treatment was given me, and in about fifteen minutes all pain had gone and I fell asleep.
On awaking, two hours later, I hurried to keep two business engagements, although the hand was hanging by my side and very much swollen. As the pain began again, I went to see the practitioner, telling her that I thought the wrist was broken. Although the pain was intense, in about twenty minutes I was so much relieved that I fell asleep and slept quite an hour. When my husband arrived he wished me to have the wrist set at once. I told him I would do so if he very much desired it, but that divine Love had taken all pain away, and I knew the same power would heal my wrist. I proposed waiting until morning, and when he realized that I was not suffering, he consented.
The next morning I was so much better that I did not go to the doctor, but went on declaring the truth and holding the thought of God's perfect creation. As we were moving into a new house, I was kept very busy and used my hand constantly. In about four weeks I had an X-ray photograph made of the wrist. The doctor telephoned next morning, saying he was sending me the photograph, and that my wrist had been broken all the way across in a double break. When asked what I should do for it, he said nothing needed to be done; that it was a splendid knit and a beautiful set.
