Each day I feel more grateful to our Leader for her...

Each day I feel more grateful to our Leader for her patient love and work in bringing to mankind the light of divine Truth, which, as it is spiritually discerned and assimilated, heals and sin and disease. Every demonstration over error brought about through the realization of this truth brings with it an increase of joy.

An instance of this came to me in the summer of 1915. Returning home late one night, I went upstairs in the dark and turned to go to my room, but missed my footing and fell down the stairs, striking on my head. I must have been rendered unconscious, for afterward I did not know where I was. At first there was no sense of pain, but when I tried to rise there came a rush of great pain to the head and limbs. I managed to get to my room, but could not lie down on account of the suffering. I was alone in the house, but had no fear; on the contrary I felt quiet and happy, and went on with the mental work I had begun before falling, knowing that divine Love had saved me and that all was well. Though a telephone was in the house, no thought of asking for help came to me. I was conscious of a deep sense of safety and of God's presence. That was enough.

At the end of two hours I went to sleep, and awoke at half past seven the next morning perfectly well and free from pain. The swelling which had come on the head had quite gone, and there was little discoloration, though there was a wound on the face and temple. I cycled sixteen miles that morning, doing distribution work, and have never since felt the least pain or any after effects from the fall.
