[Written for the Sentinel]

"He is risen!"

Who shall roll us away the stone?
Asked the three as they walked alone,
At the dawn of a wondrous day,
Hearts enshrouded in sorrow's gloom.
Lo, they found as they reached the tomb,
That the stone had been rolled away.

Who shall roll us away the stone?
Asks the world with a weary moan,
At the dawn of a perfect day.
Seeking man in a fleshly tomb,
Error sealed with a stone of gloom,
Truth, we find, rolls the stone away.

Where have ye laid him? Mary cried,
Seeking him who was crucified.
"They have taken away my Lord!"
Swift she turned, as the Master's voice
Lifted thought to behold, rejoice,
Then sped away with the blessed word.

Where have ye laid him? the sad world cries,
Seeking Truth with its dream-bound eyes.
They have taken away our Lord!
Sweet the sound of the Master's voice,
Awakening thought to behold, rejoice,
In the life of the risen Word.
