[Translated from the French]

In the Psalms we read of those who "cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses." We further read, "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." My gratitude to Christian Science is great, for through it God has sent His word and made me whole. Five years ago, discouraged by the unsuccessful use of material means for the healing of a disease of the respiratory organs, I turned to Christian Science, without any knowledge as to its nature except that by it the sick were healed. A practitioner gave me a few explanations, which were followed by one treatment. On the next day, which was Sunday, I attended a service, and experienced relief. I felt greatly attracted toward this teaching, and thus the way to my healing was open.

Today I am grateful for having found health, but far more so for the renewing of my mind. Christian Science has met a sincere desire on my part to know something of God. The study of the Bible in connection with Science and Health brought me great joy, for while I had subscribed to no religious faith since childhood days, this study brought with it the realization of an inward desire. I learned that God is Spirit, Life, Love, that He is an ever present help, and that man has no being apart from the divine all-power. This assurance has been given me repeatedly in cases of illness to which our little girl had become subject. She is now in good health and knows that God is the great Physician.

I am very grateful indeed for the French translations of Christian Science literature which have been published of late. Those who are athirst for truth say in the words of the woman of Samaria, "Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not;" and they are satisfied. May all who thirst and are suffering come to this source of living water. Words fail to express my gratitude for the work accomplished by Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer of Christian Science, and for the labors of all who are engaged in its practice. I feel that I can do no better than to try faithfully to conform to its teachings, remembering all the while, as we read on page 206 of Science and Health, that "whatever blesses one blesses all."—Mme. Jeanne Panchaud, Geneva, Switzerland.
