I would like to express my gratitude for the many blessings experienced through Christian Science. For fourteen years I was afflicted with a trouble which manifested itself in all sorts of ways. I had to stay in bed a good deal of the time, and the last five years was able to walk only with a stick, which meant a great effort. Every physician consulted said there was no hope, and that my prospects were either an insane asylum or death; and the latter would, as I thought, alone free me of my suffering, which at times was intense.

Shortly before this I had heard of Christian Science through people with whom I was well acquainted, and who told me of the blessings which have come to mankind through this teaching. In this hour of need I asked an adherent for treatment, and bought the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, also a copy of the Herold. From then on I, with my husband and child, began to have practical evidence of the power of divine Love, and in three weeks I was completely restored and able to attend to all my household duties. I was freed from all my troubles—of abdominal complaint, displaced kidneys, pain in the stomach, weak heart action, also a supposedly incurable nervous disease, and was able to walk as well and as much as any healthy person. I cannot help telling my fellow beings of this, in order that those who are in need may find comfort, and know that there is help even in cases where the difficulties seem great.

Never before in my life have I felt such a sense of peace and such contentment. I am able to do any kind of work, and I praise God for all these blessings received through Christian Science. I am deeply grateful to our noble Leader, Mrs. Eddy, as well as to all who have helped me find the way of Truth, and also for being able to help others as I have been helped.—Berta Döscher, Plauen i.V., Germany.
