[Written for the Sentinel]

"That they go forward"

Upon thy journey to the promised land
Of everlasting harmony and joy,
Do the pursuing mortal thoughts annoy,
And dost thou falter at the Red Sea's strand?
Be not dismayed—in faith uplift thy hand,
And, e'en as Mind did falt'ring Moses buoy,
So Truth shall guide and guard thee, but destroy
In their own element the unreal band.

Scorn what the senses say, nor backward turn
From obstacles which they alone have made;
Thou mayst through higher vision Truth discern,
And pierce the darkness of each error's shade:
Press on! Go forward! Joys of Spirit learn.
Evil is naught and Love doth all pervade!
