If in answer to our prayer some self-bestowal of the Highest be vouchsafed us, what would be the signs of the divine coming? Would there not be at once an enhancing of ethical fervor, so that our morality, far from contenting itself in a due compliance with customary codes of conduct, would set itself new and more arduous tasks? That only is a vital morality which considers every temporal problem as in the light of the eternal righteousness.
