Among the Churches

Current Notes

Covina, Cal .—The Christian Science Society expects to erect a church on the corner of Third and Center Streets in the near future.—Covina Citizen.

NEW HAMPSHIRE.—The press of the state has maintained a general attitude of respect toward Christian Science. Only four periodicals have published articles that were of an unfriendly nature, and these were very mild in their statements. On the other hand, much of a friendly nature has been printed, and many editorials and articles from the Sentinel and the Monitor have been printed with favorable comment. A number of papers in the state have printed in full lectures on Christian Science. About two years ago the warden of the state prison was asked to accept a year's subscription to The Christian Science Monitor, and he and others in the office were so well pleased with the paper that he brought before the board of trustees the question of allowing it to be sent to the inmates. The subscriptions offered were accepted, and there are now sixteen Monitors going to the prison daily. It has been arranged so that every man has a paper each day. The men have expressed their appreciation of the papers.

Distribution of literature by the assistants and committees in the state to Oct. 31, totals as follows: 7862 Sentinels, 1240 Journals, 56 Herolds, 26,394 Monitors, 768 pamphlets, 9195 papers containing lectures on Christian Science, 32 annual subscriptions to the Monitor, 9 copies of Science and Health.—Committee on Publication.
