I wish to express my deep gratitude to God for the great...
I wish to express my deep gratitude to God for the great blessings that have come to me through gaining an understanding of Christian Science. It has completely changed my life from constant ailing to one of health and usefulness. Christian Science found me at the darkest period of my life, when all that seemed to make life worth living had been taken from me and I was almost in despair. For many years I had felt it was of no use to pray, for I thought God did not hear my prayers; that He had sent all these troubles for some reason, and I am afraid I was very resentful.
Just at this time a Christian Scientist explained to me something of her religion, and told me that God is Love. She also gave me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, which I earnestly studied, along with the Bible, and soon learned that God is indeed Love and "a very present help in trouble." In a short time my sorrow was turned into joy and peace. When I began the study of Christian Science I was suffering from severe lung trouble, and two doctors had told me I would never be able to stand the British climate. I soon learned that with God's help it is possible to live anywhere, and before long I was healed. That was about ten years ago, and my health is better than it ever has been before. Many erroneous conditions have presented themselves since, such as asthma, rheumatism, headaches, loneliness, also an internal trouble which I had had for many years and which had caused me much pain and inconvenience; but all these conditions have been overcome through the understanding of Christian Science.
I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy for giving us our text-book, also for our literature, which indeed meets every need; but above all, I am thankful for my fuller knowledge of God.
