In October, 1898, a friend who had been helped in Christian Science presented me with the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. At that time I was a member of another church, but for a number of years had not been satisfied with its teachings and was reaching out for something better, so was prepared to grasp some of the truth in this book. After reading it a month I was healed of stomach trouble, and of a structural defect of the eyes for which glasses had been worn.
In 1906 I met with an accident, whereby my ankle was said to be fractured. The surgeon who set the bones said it was a compound comminuted fracture, and the medical law was that a person of my age would have to go on crutches for two years at least, and perhaps always, as the result of such an accident. Treatment was given me by a Christian Scientist, and in three and a half months I was walking without the aid of crutches or cane. I am indeed very grateful for this healing.
In the years of studying and trying to put into practice this living truth I have found much help along the lines of lessening fear, anxiety, sensitiveness, and supposedly inherited tendencies. Christian Science has been a great comfort to me in sorrow, and has helped me to point the way for others. A broken rib and a broken wrist have been healed and burns have been overcome. A dislocated kneejoint yielded in a few days to the power of Truth.
