When I think back over the past few years, my gratitude...

When I think back over the past few years, my gratitude goes out to Mrs. Eddy for what Christian Science has done for me. For three months I struggled with a problem which generally leaves its victims in the path of destruction, and was then taken to a hospital, a physical, mental, and financial wreck. There Christian Science found me suffering untold agonies, but I was resentful and unwilling to receive it, simply because its discoverer was a woman. The only god I had was gold, for the God I had learned of I could not accept, believing that He sent sin, sickness, and distress upon men, women, and children.

Finally, after a battle with pride and self, I promised a friend to try Christian Science, and as a result was healed of my afflictions. A serious eye difficulty of twelve years' standing was instantaneously overcome, and acute stomach trouble has also been healed. I found God to be divine Principle, ever operative, and began to understand my relationship to the creator; also to know that strict adherence to this one infinite divine Principle must bring harmony. I learned the meaning of humility, and found out what it meant to be alone, struggling with error; but this all led to greater progress.

My blessings have been many, but I am most thankful for the spiritual healing and for my improved thought about men and women. For four years I have depended absolutely upon Christian Science. Discouragement has often come to me, but it always led to the discovery that I had been disobedient. My debt of gratitude to God can only be paid by doing my part in helping to free those now in bondage.
