The experience for which I am most grateful and which...
The experience for which I am most grateful and which stands out as one of the greatest blessings in Christian Science, is the regeneration or spiritual awakening, which has been wonderful. Christian Science was presented to me many years ago. At that time I felt my only need was release from the physical suffering that had been my constant companion for almost twenty years.
The diagnosis given by the various specialists sentenced me to invalidism unless surgery were resorted to, and the possiblity of this course filled me with such terror that I finally rejected this opinion, and willingly listened to the loving statements made by a friend regarding Christian Science. Treatment was given me, and almost immediately I felt a changed mental condition. From suffering, fear, selfpity, and resentment, my thoughts turned to quietness and hope. In a short time the bodily conditions improved and the import of the Christ-healing began to dawn upon an awakened consciousness. This awakening was something to remember. In a few months there was such a change that I was ready to join the ranks of Christian Science.
During the intervening years there have been many tests, and these more than all else have convinced me of the power of the divine presence to heal and to lift mankind into the realization that man is God's image; therefore the tests have been opportunities of prove the truths presented so clearly by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health. Each day is filled with a measure of gratitude, not only for my healing but that mankind may share alike the perfect love and trust in the omnipotent God who regenerates. Mrs. Eddy's writings are a daily inspiration, and words cannot express the love due her for this revelation of Truth.
