A deep sense of gratitude prompts me to tell of my experience...
A deep sense of gratitude prompts me to tell of my experience in Christian Science. Having been afflicted for over twenty years with a complication of diseases, such as stomach trouble, nervousness, sleeplessness, and frequent headaches, I became very despondent and discouraged at times, as medicine afforded me only temporary relief, but gradually I reconciled myself to the thought that God sent these afflictions for some wise purpose.
When first the light of Christian Science dawned upon me I grasped it eagerly, with the faith that if God healed others He surely would heal me. After a week's reading of Science and Health and a few copies of the Sentinel, I realized this was what I had long desired to know,—the truth which sets men free. Thereupon I consulted a practitioner, who gave me one treatment, and then applied myself closely to the study of Science and Health. I threw away all my medicines and ate whatever I wanted without any resultant suffering. The severe headaches and other ailments gradually disappeared. A poisoned foot has also been healed by applying the truth taught in Christian Science.
I feel very grateful for the spiritual uplift that is being gained daily, and for "that peace which the world cannot give," and cannot take away; also for the understanding that God is ever present with His children and provides for all their daily needs. I feel thankful to God for the understanding of His word gained in Christian Science, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which makes the Bible clearer. Christian Science has made me more hopeful, more able to cope with life's responsibilities, and better able to meet every emergency with faith and an understanding of the presence of good.
