On arriving back from the front after ten months' service...

On arriving back from the front after ten months' service in the trenches I testify to the strength and comfort received through Christian Science, which has taught me to pray aright, and has led me to the knowledge that God, divine Truth, is indeed a "shield and buckler" in times of what appears to mortal mind to be great danger. I cannot express in words the feeling of peace, "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding," which has come over me when things seemed darkest, with the knowledge that God was present and that there was no power opposed to His.

I went through three battles, and during all was unharmed. The whole time I did not touch medicine or go to a hospital, though being previously of such a delicate constitution that nobody believed I would last for long. I felt in fact stronger than the strong in great hardships and dangers, and when mortal mind did on occasion overshadow me with a sense of danger, by the study of Science and Health and prayer to the Almighty I was able to conquer this mental state and be again at peace.

I can never feel too thankful that I have been led through Christian Science to know the truth, and that I have proved for myself the power of God to be as available to us all now as it was in the days of our Lord. I pray that this testimony may be of help to my brothers who are about to enter into similar experiences.—Abel Smyth, Dublin, Ireland.
