When the most scientific and Christian man of all time,...

Greeley (Col.) Tribune

When the most scientific and Christian man of all time, Christ Jesus, went about doing good,—healing the sick, freeing the sin-bound, and comforting the sorrowing,—he was maligned, because the divine Principle of his teaching and practice was not understood. Since Christian Science is but the restatement of primitive Christianity it is not surprising that the adherents of scholastic theology should oppose its advance by misrepresentation and calumny.

It is as easy and also as unavailing to declare that Christian Science is neither Christian nor scientific as it was for those who knew no better to claim that the earth was not round. The practice of Christian Science is nothing other than "following Christ's precepts and example," which is Webster's definition of Christian, and this agrees exactly with the gauge furnished by the Master when he said, "By their fruits ye shall know them."

Critics of Christian Science are fond of quoting Paul's warning to Timothy to beware of "science falsely so called," but they evidently do not see that this very quotation directly implies Paul's recognition of true science or exact knowledge of God, Truth, which he in other places strongly urges upon all Christians. Both the words and the works of Jesus show that he possessed exact or scientific knowledge of Truth and spiritual law; hence it was this same scientific knowledge that Paul enjoyed when he wrote, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." Christian Science enables its students to prove that this command can be obeyed and proven in the most practical ways to-day as it was two thousands years ago.
