In 1915 our baby had a very wonderful healing, and as my wish is to help others, I am happy to be able to write this account of it to be published, since I have read so many testimonies which have helped me. The child was supposedly born with an obstruction of the bowels, so that there was action only about three times a month. I used to go daily to a Christian Science practitioner, carrying the baby in my arms, and was sometimes so discouraged that I could not keep the tears back. Having been a trained nurse, I knew of many things to do for this trouble in a material way but very little in a scientific way, as at that time I was young in the study of Christian Science. But for the practitioner's daily talk and the wonderful encouragement she gave me, I would have given up.
The day healing came I shall never forget. There had been no action of the bowels for nearly two weeks, and fear got hold of me; but on my way to the practitioner's home a sense of peace and great joy came over me. Upon reaching the house I told the practitioner of the situation, and she assured me that the baby was healed. Later in the day this was proved true, for there was perfectly normal action. Even while the baby was in bondage to this condition he had eaten and slept and was otherwise normal, and he is to-day a remarkably strong, healthy child. The coming of the second child was a beautiful demonstration of the truth, since in the old thought there were many reasons why such a condition was difficult. I did not go to a doctor at any time before or after the baby came, and got up the fourth day.
The Bible is becoming clearer to me all the time, and I do enjoy the literature, the daily study of the Lesson-Sermon, and the inspiring hymns. I am trying to love my neighbor as myself. Sensitiveness has been overcome, also a tendency to exaggerate. Resentment has yielded to the power of Truth, and a desire to do right is ever with me. I have been healed of rheumatism of the knees, bleeding hemorrhoids, sleeplessness, and many minor ailments.
