From early childhood I was never strong, but when my mother, after having exhausted every material means, was healed in Christian Science, I was placed in the Christian Science Sunday school and gradually grew stronger.

About four years ago I was raised from an almost fatal illness through the power of Truth. In June, 1915, when in New Orleans, I was taken quite unexpectedly ill from overexertion and heat. The attack was what is known as bloody flux. I was first troubled on a Monday and that night I did not sleep except in broken snatches, probably not more than an hour in all, and was in a good deal of pain. Early Tuesday morning I called a practitioner and asked for help. The condition grew steadily worse and the pain became so intense that I could find only occasional relief, and the slightest movement brought almost unbearable suffering. This continued until Wednesday night, when the practitioner was preparing to leave, after spending three hours at my side, during which I had gained considerable relief although the fever was very high. As she reached the door she was stopped by the gentleman at whose home I was staying, who told her that since I was in his house and under his care, I must have a physician. As he remained firm, I decided that I would leave the house and go to some place else, though to material sense this seemed impossible. Almost in that instant the fever lessened, and when a few minutes later this gentleman came to my room to take my temperature, the fever had subsided to such a degree that he decided I would not need a doctor.

For this demonstration and for the help and understanding of Truth which it brought to me I am very grateful.
