New York (N. Y.) Telegraph

A coroner is "investigating" the death of an Erasmus high school student, because, as the newspapers say, the only treatment she received during her illness was by a Christian Science practitioner. One newspaper goes so far as to refer to the unhappy fate of the girl as "a Christian Science death." The mortuary statistics for the current week will doubtless show a number of deaths of persons who received no other attention than that given by allopathic physicians, and a number of deaths of persons who pinned their faith to homeopaths. The eclectic school will be represented, and perhaps osteopathy. No paper will refer to any one of these unfortunates as dying an "allopathic death," or a "homeopathic death." It will be assumed, and with reason, that the physicians in attendance did all in their power to ward off death, and that they were unfortunate either from lack of skill or because of the weakened condition of their patients.

The number of persons who die under Christian Science treatment is negligible almost, compared with the number "lost" by regular practising physicians, and yet the coroner, who generally is a "regular" himself, does not become excited when these occur.
