Sometimes the question is asked if Christian Science can...
Sometimes the question is asked if Christian Science can heal quickly where there is a vital necessity for help. With gratitude which cannot be expressed in words I submit this testimony.
Several years ago my little girl, then two and a half years old, went across the street to play with some other children. About twenty minutes later the father of one of her playmates brought her to me covered from head to toe with Paris green. My child had found it and played with it, getting some into her mouth and nostrils. When brought to me she was groaning, and the gentleman told me what the trouble was, saying the stuff was poison and I had better clean her up quickly. My son, who was standing near me, turned faint, but I reassured him by repeating Jesus' words, "If they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them." This was about half past eleven in the morning. I worked mentally every minute to realize the truth. About an hour later the child began to vomit, and continued to do so every few minutes. It was six o'clock when I asked a Christian Science practitioner to help me, and the child continued to vomit until about four o'clock in the morning, when she fell asleep, exhausted. She awoke feeling perfectly fresh, had a light breakfast, then a hearty dinner at noon, and was completely healed.
This healing was a wonderful revelation to us all, and we feel it would be hard for us to be grateful enough for this proof of the power of divine Love. Every day brings more and more blessings, and we know that only in deeds can we prove our thankfulness. I want to express my gratitude for our authorized literature, which is a constant help in our journey from sense to Soul. I am indeed grateful to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, through whose unselfed labor we may now prove for ourselves the Christ, Truth, which does indeed make free.—Annie J. Lippman, Hibbing, Minn.
