Church work has become a kind of technicality

Phillips Brooks

Church work has become a kind of technicality. Church-workers have become a sort of caste. The true church-worker is as wide as the whole activity which the church inspires. Wherever any man of the congregation is doing anything honest or merciful out of any impulse that he has gathered here, he is about church-work. Whenever any woman puts the spirit of the Sunday service or the week-day meeting into her household, and does her little to purify and Christianize society, she is a church-worker.—Phillips Brooks.
