Like many others, I did not come into Christian Science in the endeavor to secure release from sickness. Several members of our family had been healed of serious ailments and attributed their healing to God through the understanding of the truth as stated in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I became in a measure indignant, as I held agnostic views and was quite sure that they were mistaken as to the method used. I therefore took up the reading of this text-book with the avowed purpose of discrediting its author's contention, and felt very certain of my ability to do it. In reading it over the first time I was healed of many chronic ills which the physicians had pronounced incurable, among among them anemia, stomach disorder, catarrh, terrible headaches, and a structrual defect of the eyes. One thing I would call attention to is that I was healed although not expecting to be. Also as a result of reading Science and Health, the Bible became most interesting and instructive.

While I owe a great debt of gratitude for the perfect physical healing, which in these eighteen years has proved to be permanent, I feel that the joy and peace which accompanied this experience is of greater value. My hope is that I may be able to realize the gratitude I owe, and that this realization may impel me to be of greater use to my fellow man. Surely the life of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, serves us as a beacon-light to right thought and action.
