I wish to express my deep gratitude to Christian Science...
I wish to express my deep gratitude to Christian Science for the many blessings and the joy and peace it has brought into my life since I began to study it, about thirteen years ago. One of the greatest of these blessings was my speedy recovery from a very serious illness. I had been staying with some old friends, who were so very antagonistic to Christian Science that I had given up mentioning the subject to them. They were not very well when I left them to return home, and that evening, as I learned later, they sent for a doctor, who said they were suffering from acute lung trouble. He called in other doctors and two nurses, and all that human aid could do was done, but before the week was over the mother and her young daughter had both passed on.
Three days after my arrival I began to feel very ill and was not able to think clearly or read. I knew that help must be secured at once, and so wrote to a friend in London, a Christian Science practitioner. I had not the slightest notion as to what was the matter with me, for I had not then heard the sad news of my friends; but there was no doubt afterward, for my symptoms were exactly the same as theirs. For three days I felt very ill, but slept calmly and restfully every night after I had received treatment, and on the fourth day knew as soon as I awoke that the healing had been accomplished; my head was clear and I could do all that I wanted to do. A bad cough and slight weakness were all that remained, and they very quickly disappeared.
I have received many other benefits from Christian Science, Neuralgia had been an enemy the greater part of my life, but since becoming a Scientist I have had only a few attacks, and the last one was very quickly overcome. I wired to my friend in London, and within one hour the pain had ceased, and there has been no return of the trouble. Seasickness also has been overcome every time I have had treatment. For these and many other blessings I thank God, and likewise feel very grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
