Christian Science has changed my life

Christian Science has changed my life. When I began to think of it as a means of healing my physical ailments I was full of fear, bodily suffering, and worry over what seemed to be disagreeable conditions which would have to be endured but could never be improved. I had taken medicine for headache, as well as for stomach disorder and its attendant ills. The thought of being compelled to take it all my life made the future look discouraging. The headaches were beginning to keep me from performing my duties as I desired to do them, when a friend said Christian Science could cure me.

Without any knowledge of this teaching, but with a desire to be treated, I went to a practitioner, and in one treatment was healed of the stomach trouble. Immediately I ate anything I liked and of those things which formerly appeared to cause me much discomfort. A new feeling entered into me; I was very happy and felt as if I were walking on air. I had to descend from this mount of exaltation, however, and tread slowly up again, being purified by this discipline and learning with each step something to enable me to see more clearly how to help others when opportunity offers this privilege. One day I discovered that the catarrh which had annoyed me for several years had vanished, and the headaches gradually disappeared. Not all my ills were healed instantly, and if they had been I might not have clung to this saving religion and gained the spiritual uplift and growth the existence of which is proved by the physical healings.

Gratitude fills my heart for the truth that has set me free from false beliefs and taught me that man reflects infinite Love and Life. I have been lifted above the conditions which seemed to imprison me—they have ceased to be. I am deeply grateful for the patient, compassionate woman, Mrs. Eddy, who has given us Christian Science. At one time I was embarrassed to know how to express my gratitude and love, but now I feel convinced that the way is to keep patiently and quietly thinking right, and so live that wherever I may be some good will come to those about me and I may be an aid and not a hindrance to the cause of Christian Science.
